7.) Round 4 No. 114 Ricardo Louis WR Auburn
Grade: D-
It’s good to see the Browns front office go out and get some WRs but Louis was not a great pick. He went a couple rounds too early and Browns fans have already been through the ringer enough with picking players that have questionable hands. Hearing that he might need to convert to CB because of it is a serious concern that can’t be overlooked.
8.) Round 4 No. 129 Derrick Kindred S TCU
Grade: C
The Browns reached on a lot of players in the draft. Kindred was another one of those players. The reason for not giving this grade a bad selection was the team has a major need at strong safety with the release of Donte Whitner. His ability to cover is a major concern since you have to be able to stop the run and cover. He may be a backup to Campbell and get involved with special teams.
9.) Round 4 No. 138 Seth Devalve TE Princeton
Grade: F
With only four TEs off the board at this point, the Browns passed up a ton of good ones to draft a player that should have been an undrafted free agent. Devalve has hand concerns too and has never played the TE position. At Princeton, he was an oversized WR at 245 pounds. The team could have found a much better player here and brought him in as a free agent after the draft.
10.) Round 5 No. 154 Jordan Payton WR UCLA
Grade: B
The Browns continue their WR haul with Payton from UCLA. He isn’t physically intimidating despite his size but he was productive and is a plus run blocker. He needs to get better separation off the line of scrimmage to make an impact at the next level but for this spot he’s not a bad pick.
