Who is Next For Conor McGregor? Three Possible Big Money Opponents in MMA, Boxing & WWE

Pauli Malignaggi (Boxing)

Crazy as it may seem, but the chances of Conor McGregor boxing again are much more real than any of us realize.  He had often said in the lead up to the Mayweather bout that it would be a one-time only event for him.  Then, he went out there and stole the show with an epic performance no one saw coming, it opened doors for him to fight in the squared circle again.

If so, the opponent that everyone would pay to see is his very short lived sparring partner Pauli Malignaggi who lasted all of two sparring sessions with McGregor before having a very public and bitter breakup.  Video leaked of Malignaggi getting knocked down, and it caused nothing but drama and intrigue for all involved with the spectacle.

One thing is for sure, Pauli would be more then up for coming out retirement himself, to make it happen.  ““I think the fans want it and I think its a very sellable fight,” Malignaggi said in a quote with Yahoo, “How bad does he want it? I’ll tell you this, he has most of the public perception that he got the better of me in sparring and he has them believing in that [expletive] knockdown. But we know what will happen if he fights me. He knows he sparred with me when I was only at 35-40 percent because I was retired and he knows the trouble he had with me.

I’m all about it, man. I’ll make it winner-takes-all.   I’m willing to risk fighting him for free just to punch him in the mouth again and again and again. That’s how confident I am that he can’t beat me.

If Conor doesn’t get stopped by me – and I’m a guy who doesn’t get a lot of stoppages – if Conor doesn’t get stopped by me I should get penalized at least a portion of my purse just for not stopping the guy.”

While that fight wouldn’t produce the kind of money his clash with Mayweather did, it would still generate plenty of interest and money.  Early rumors have the bout (if accepted by McGregor), to be held on March 17 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
