Round 5
150.) Andrew Brown DT Virginia
Danny Shelton was traded in the offseason and nobody was brought in to be his replacement. Gregg Williams likes smaller athletic DTs. He has a lot of potential he never lived up to at Virginia after being a top high school recruit but maybe Williams can get the most out of him.
156.) Simmie Cobbs WR Indiana
Cleveland still needs another reliable WR. Gordon and Coleman are both home run threats outside and Landry is a slot WR so why not find a big body possession WR they can throw outside as well. I was a big fan of Cobbs but he ran pretty poor at the combine. He is going to have to show that he can create separation despite a lack of speed to be successful but for his size and hands he fits the profile of a WR the Browns currently lack and for the fifth round his value is well worth it.
Round 6
175.) Chase Edmonds RB Fordham
While everyone wants to push for a RB early the Browns don’t necessarily have to budge on it. They gave Hyde a decent deal and Duke Johnson was your best playmaker last year. Three headed backfields don’t always work out the best. Ask Adrian Peterson and New Orleans for example. This pick would be about upgrading Dayes and offering insurance in case Johnson or Hyde get hurt which could be a real possibility. Edmonds is a smaller back but extremely agile and can make plays in space.
188.) Genard Avery LB Memphis
For the final pick they just need to find someone who can go out and make plays on special teams and add some depth instead of having practice squad guys at LB. Avery fits the bill for that.
