NEOSI Top 10 NBA Power Rankings for November 9th

9. Chicago Bulls (4-3)
Last Week: Just Missed the Cut

The 4-3 record isn’t all that impressive, but the quality of opponents those wins have come against is. They’re the only team to beat Cleveland and they also took down OKC.

Derrick Rose is showing that he still can, at times, play like his old self. Pau Gasol is still a double double machine, and Jimmy Butler is only getting better. The Bulls should be a team that is clicking on all cylinders come postseason.

10. Detroit Pistons (5-1)
Last Week: Off the Radar

The Pistons are without a doubt the biggest surprise of the first few weeks of the season. Their 3-0 start was worth noting, but not quite enough for them to crack our list to start the season.

The way Andre Drummond is balling out at a historically great level is impossible to ignore now. Drummond post a 29 point 27 rebound game Sunday night, and is averaging 20 points and 20 rebounds per game over six games.

Point guard Reggie Jackson, (Mr. November?) has scored 20 or more points in four straight games, including a 40-point performance Sunday night, as well. Might the Thunder have lost another star guard?

It’s still early, but Detroit is definitely on the map now.

Who Fell Off?

Washington Wizards (3-3), Miami Heat (4-3), Memphis Grizzlies (3-4)

Just Missed the Cut:

Utah Jazz (4-2), Portland Trailblazers (4-3), Milwaukee Bucks (4-3), Minnesota Timberwolves (3-2)
