NEOSI Top 10 NBA Power Rankings for November 9th

6. Oklahoma City Thunder (4-3)
Last Week: 2

After their hot start, the Thunder dropped three in a row. We may have jumped the gun on anointing them after one week, but watching Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook has a way of mesmerizing basketball fans.

As long as Westbrook and Durant are healthy, OKC will give any team a run for their money.

7. Houston Rockets (4-3)
Last Week: 8

Just when everyone was jumping ship and the Rockets were 0-3, they do what was expected of a team with their talent level, and go on a four-game win streak. James Harden is starting to find his way again after a rough three games to start the season.

Ty Lawson is fitting in nicely, and is the first legitimate point guard the Rockets have had in some time. It’s safe to say that the three-game losing streak was the anomaly and the way they are playing during this four-game win streak is a better gage of where this team is going to end up.

8. Toronto Raptors (5-2)
Last Week: 10

It seemed like the Raptors were ready to assert themselves as the biggest threat to Cleveland in the East, after they won five in a row to start the season, but after losing two in a row, maybe we need to pump the brakes a bit.

It’s still as great a start the Raptors have had in franchise history, and in an Eastern Conference with few contenders, Toronto deserves to be mentioned as one of the teams with a shot at the Eastern Conference Finals.
