This weeks NEOSI High School Player of the Week award goes to Tyler Nelson of Avon Lake.
The running back had 212 yards and four touchdowns in his teams 49 – 6 victory over Berea Midpark this past weekend at home.
His first touchdown came on the opening drive of the game as he took a sweep in from 3 yards out to get the scoring going. He would do it again on the very next drive, this time going in from 11 yards out to give the Avon Lake Shoremen a 14 point lead they would never surrender.
Nelson was red hot all night and the Titans did now have an answer for him. Nelson would score again from 10 yards out to close the first half and put Avon Lake ahead 42-6. He could of had another touchdown on the drive before hand, but Avon Lake gave the touchdown carry to powerful fullback Sandy Bishop instead.
Nelson would complete his big day before exiting the game, on the first drive of the second half. Nelson took it in again for six, this time from the 4 yard line to finish the scoring at 49-6.
Congrats again to Tyler Nelson for becoming this weeks NEOSI player of the week!
Avon Lake will need Nelson to step it up again this weekend as they travel to take on 5-2 Olmsted Falls.
