11. NEW YORK JETS (7) 4-3
Who’d have thought that losing Ryan Fitzpatrick to a thumb injury would be season threating to the Jets halfway through the season, back before Geno Smith took a sucker punch? Not I, but the Jets still have a lot time left to play their way back to the level they were at the first few weeks of the season.
12. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (10) 4-4
A tall task for Ben Roethlisberger stood high this past week against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals. Just as the football gods giveth Pittsburgh their QB back, they taketh the starting RB Le’veon Bell away on a gruesome knee injury. Remember, DeAngelo Williams held his own when Bell was suspended for an early portion of this season and while there is no substitute for Le’veon’s production I wouldn’t count Williams out as a stable force in the backfield.
13. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (14) 4-4
Well the Seahawks had a tough time dealing with the crippled Dallas Cowboys and narrowly escaped the house that Jerry built. Something nice on the stat sheet: Jimmy Graham 7 catches for 75 yards. Strange how this team sticks around and it’s difficult to vote against them these days – especially when Marshawn Lynch is at 100%.
14. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (13) 3-4
The first team under.500 on this week’s power rankings are none-other than the Philadelphia Eagles. Granted, they had a bye week and I dropped them because I felt the No. 14 spot was a fine place for a team who is 3-4 to begin with. Highlighted by some recent rankings posts, this team has great lack of consistency from week to week. A not-so-formidable opponent in the Dallas Cowboys is the next challenge for Chip Kelly and I would hope they answer in a big way.
