7. ATLANTA FALCONS (6) 6-2
It happens every-so-often – unfortunately it had to happen the Atlanta Falcons this past weekend at home against the dreadful Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maybe if a few plays go differently for Matt Ryan the Falcons don’t suffer their second loss before the first eight weeks but this is not a league that hangs on what-ifs, at least when it comes to W-L records. Some people are calling the Falcons a fraud, I’m not willing to go that extent just yet and I’m only demoting them one spot from last week. ATL takes on Blaine Gabbert and the 49ers this week so look for a strong bounce-back.
8. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (9) 5-2
Albeit the Vikings played a battered Chicago team, they still pulled out a division win this past week on the road. Adrian Peterson had another 100+ yard day and Stefon Diggs continues to produce at the WR position.
9. ST. LOUIS RAMS (10) 4-3
Run, Todd Gurley, run. The rookie running back continues to shine and the St. Louis Rams crack the Top 10 for the first time this season. The defense also put up a valiant effort only allowing 38 yards rushing this past week. Swiss army knife Tavon Austin racked up a rushing and receiving TD as well.
10. OAKLAND RAIDERS (15) 4-3
Derek Carr – Have a day. 23/36 – 333 yards – 4 TDs. Oakland played a helluva game against a strong New York Jets team and as reward they have moved into the final spot of the Top 10 on our NFL power rankings, jumping up five spots from the previous week. This week the Raiders head to Heinz Field in a very intriguing match-up for Week 9.
