NEO Sports Insiders Week 14 NFL Power Rankings

25. DETROIT LIONS (20) 4-9

The loss-heavy NFC North has the Lions at the bottom of the equation but it could have been a lot worse for this team. Remember when QB Matt Stafford was benched for the guy who ran out of the end zone for a safety during that horrific 0-16 season? Suddenly 4-12 or 5-11 doesn’t seem so bad for Detroit.

26. ATLANTA FALCONS (23) 6-7

What a fall from grace for the former 5-0 Falcons. Is anyone looking into why this has happened? I’m more interested about this implosion than a set of deflated footballs. Even though Julio Jones finished with 7 catches for 88 yards, the Falcons were no match for the Panthers and I find myself questioning if they can give the Jaguars a game this upcoming week.

27. BALTIMORE RAVENS (26) 4-9

So Jimmy Clausen is still bad – and the Ravens paid him to ensure that. Baltimore is trying desperately to make something out of literally nothing these last few weeks of the season. Harbough went out and signed Ryan Mallett, who was cut by the Texans earlier this season, and its possibly he could see the field for the Ravens this season.

28. CLEVELAND BROWNS (32) 3-10

Many people, including Browns fans, have been routing for this team to tank for the number one overall pick. I think routing for your team to lose is ridiculous – no matter how horrible the coaching staff, front office, or product on the field is. Winning brings progress and when a team is 2-10 a victory needs to be taken any way it can. Totaling 9 sacks against the 49ers is a great way to start. Johnny Manziel was poise and delivered the ball with conviction, commanding the huddle. Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr. made their presence felt and Crowell was a nominee for Fed-Ex Ground Player OTW – ripping off some nice runs.

Looking ahead, the Week 15 game in Seattle will be difficult to continue the progress made, but a great test to the production of the younger players on the roster. Also, if you’re not disappointed in the play of Cam Erving we must not be watching the same team this season. The rookie has struggled mightily and even on special teams managed to let a defender stick a paw in the air and block a field goal attempt. Injuries will push Terrelle Pryor up the depth chart and as a Browns fan I hope the physically gifted QB turned WR can prove valuable for next season with some strong play these last few games.
