CLEVELAND – After twelve weeks of regular season action there is new #1 team on our power rankings list. Carolina won in stunning fashion as Cam Newton and the Panthers improved to eleven wins on the year, knocking the Patriots off of their pedestal with a little help from New England’s loss to the Broncos. If you remembered there was football still to be played last Monday night, then you may have witnessed the first walk off kick-six in NFL History when the Browns dropped another loss, their 6th straight since beating the Ravens earlier this year. Baltimore ran the blocked field goal to the house and commenced the mass exodus amongst Cleveland fans inside First Energy Stadium.
NEO Sports Insiders NFL Power Rankings
1. CAROLINA PANTHERS (2) 11-0
If Cam Newton was asked what he may be thankful for this time of year, he may need to send some thanks towards his defense. Combining for two pick-sixes on the Thanksgiving clash against the Cowboys proved to be crucial to the Panthers success as they hit 11-0.
2. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (2) 10-1
It was cold, windy and snow decorated the forecast for the Sunday night match-up that left the Patriots with their first loss on the season. After a 50 plus yarder from kicker Stephen Gostkowski to send the game to overtime, Tom Brady watched from the sideline as Denver drove down the field on the first possession for a TD.
