Tonight in Denver, Colorado, two women will be fighting for the chance to be the next contender for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Dominant striker Valentina Shevchenko and grappled Julianna Pena will do battle in the octagon. The main event of Shevchenko and Pena will be interesting for sure, but the fight card does hold a few more interesting matchup.
Without further ado, here are my picks for UFC Fight Night Denver:
Alex Caceres vs. Jason Knight– Caceres is a good fighter, but I think this is a coming out party for Knight. I expect him to show out here.
Winner: Knight via first-round submission
Andrei Arlovski vs. Frances Ngannou– Ngannou is a straight up beast and is super dangerous. Arlovski is attempting to get back on track here, but it’s definitely the wrong guy to try and get a win against. I think Ngannou will continue to make a big impact inside the octagon here.
Winner: Ngannou via second-round submission
Donald Cerrone vs. Jorge Masvidal– Cerrone is as active a fighter as you’ll see, so The fact he is battling for his 20th win in the UFC tonight is awesome for sure, but not surprising. Masvidal is a fighter who is searching for recognition. With this fight, he will certainly get some due to the man he is fighting. I will call upset here with Masvidal winning, as maybe Cerrone is beginning to stretch himself out.
Winner: Masvidal via third-round TKO
Valentina Shevchenko vs. Julianna Pena– This is essentially the #1 contender’s fight. Shevchenko is super tough, as shown in her fight against Holly Holm last year. Pena has been knocking down whoever has been in front of her. She should’ve received the title fight before Ronda Rousey, so I expect her to be infuriated and finish Shevchenko to make a statement.
Winner: Pena via second-round submission
