Moon Picks Lewis-Abdurakhimov

It’s going to be an interesting fight tonight in the UFC Fight Night 102 main event between Derrick Lewis and Shamil Abdurakhimov. While fighters such as Andrew Sanchez and Ashley Yoder try to make names for themselves, two guys who are trying to move up the heavyweight ladder will do battle on Friday night in Albany, New York.

Lewis’ last fight was a brutal one where he and Roy Nelson went toe-to-toe on their feet for three rounds. Lewis was dangerous as can be, as he not only weathered the storm from Nelson’s offensive power, but he also attacked Nelson in smart combos. Lewis will look to continue that trend against Abdurakhimov.

Abdurakhimov has looked impressive in his fights up to this point, winning two of his last three fights. The only worrisome thing out of those fights is he has won both fights by decision, where the loss came from a TKO in the first round. Can Abdurakhimov stop Lewis and control the fight for five rounds? Can he knock out or submit Lewis? That’ll be extremely hard to do against a guy who is on a roll right now.

My prediction for this fight is a first-round knockout victory for Derrick Lewis.
