CLEVELAND – In advance of a two-game weekend home series vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins at The Q, Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters recalled right wing Seth Ambroz from the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones and signed right-handed forward Joe Devin to a 25-game Professional Tryout Contract, the team announced Saturday.
A fifth round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2011 NHL Draft (128th overall), Ambroz appeared in two games for the Monsters this season and has two goals, 33 penalty minutes and a +4 rating to his credit in 15 ECHL appearances for Cincinnati this year. In 28 ECHL appearances for the South Carolina Stingrays this season, Devin has eight goals, 20 points, eight penalty minutes and a +12 rating to his credit and registered a +1 rating in one appearance for Lake Erie this year.
A 6’2”, 209 lb. native of New Prague, MN, Ambroz registered five penalty minutes in six career AHL appearances for the Springfield Falcons and the Monsters spanning parts of the past two seasons. In four varsity seasons at the University of Minnesota from 2011 to 2015, Ambroz, 22, netted 40 goals, 70 points, 135 penalty minutes and a +22 rating in 159 NCAA appearances. In three USHL seasons with the Omaha Lancers from 2008 to 2011, Ambroz contributed 60 goals, 126 points, 295 penalty minutes and a +15 rating in 172 games played.
A 6’1”, 205 lb. native of Scituate, MA, Devin, 28, registered one goal, two points and 13 penalty minutes in 18 career AHL appearances for the San Antonio Rampage during the 2011-12 season. In 127 career ECHL appearances spanning parts of three seasons from 2011 to 2015 with the Cincinnati Cyclones and South Carolina, Devin posted 33 goals, 69 points and 8 penalty minutes. Devin also logged 33 goals, 65 points, 75 penalty minutes and a +10 rating in 73 pro games for multiple teams in Swedish and German leagues in parts of three seasons from 2012 to 2015. Prior to his professional career, Devin accumulated 37 goals, 64 points and 13 penalty minutes in 116 career NCAA appearances for Cornell University spanning four varsity seasons from 2007 to 2011. Devin served as captain of the Big Red during his senior campaign in 2010-11.
