CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Cleveland Monsters took on the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday night, looking for redemption after their loss on Wednesday. They would do so, defeating Grand Rapids 4-0.
It was a rough start to the game for the Monsters, as they failed to get a shot on goal for the first 16 minutes of the game. They would have a total of five shots on goal when the first period ended, where Grand Rapids would have eight shots on goal after being very dominant inside the Cleveland defensive zone. The Monsters would be able to keep it scoreless even with their early offensive struggles, as Anton Forsberg stood tall between the pipes.
A very different Monsters team took the ice in the second, as they were skating with purpose all twenty minutes. When Alex Broadhurst fired off a shot that bounced off the pad of Eddie Pasquale, Marc-Andre Bergeron followed it up and put it in for the goal. That Bergeron goal at the 8:23 mark would wake the Monsters up, as Markus Hanikainen (14:01), Sonny Milano (17:20) and Justin Scott (17:23) would all score to make it 4-0 going into the final frame of the evening.
The third period showed a frustrated Grand Rapids team, as things would get chippy. Things would remain the same in terms of the score, as the Monsters would prove that cooler heads prevail and win by a score of 4-0.
The Monsters are now 16-12-1-2 on the season.
