CLEVELAND – In advance of a two-game weekend road series vs. the Charlotte Checkers, Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters signed right-handed forward Derek DeBlois to a 25-game Professional Tryout Contract, the team announced Saturday. DeBlois participated in the Monsters’ 2015 Training Camp and appeared in ten games for Lake Erie this season, posting two goals, six penalty minutes and a +1 rating. In 13 appearances for the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays this season, DeBlois contributed four goals, eight points, 17 penalty minutes and a +6 rating.
A 5’11”, 187 lb. native of Warwick, RI, DeBlois, 24, registered three goals, six penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 14 career AHL appearances for the Monsters and Worcester Sharks spanning parts of two seasons from 2014 to 2015. In 72 career ECHL appearances for South Carolina spanning parts of two seasons from 2014 to 2015, DeBlois supplied 25 goals, 53 points, 59 penalty minutes and a +23 rating.
In 141 career NCAA appearances spanning four varsity seasons at the University of Michigan from 2010 to 2014, DeBlois accumulated 24 goals, 61 points, 98 penalty minutes and a +32 rating and in his lone USHL campaign, DeBlois contributed 11 goals, 33 points, 48 penalty minutes and a +17 rating in 55 appearances for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders during the 2009-10 season.
