The Cleveland Monsters made the trip up north for the game against the Manitoba Moose, looking to gain ground in an early Central Division matchup.
The game started off in Cleveland’s favor, as they scored first off of a Justin Scott goal. Scott has scored in each of the last two games. His shot at the 6:35 mark of the period really looked to set the tone. But, the Moose would battle throughout the game. Darcy Murphy tied the game up at the 14:51 mark of the period, as the game was tied at 1 at the end of the first period.
The second period was very similar to the first period, as the scoring opportunities were there for the whole period. Peter Stoykewych and Ryan Olsen scored the goals for Manitoba. With a strong second period, Manitoba found themselves with their first lead, as they ended the second period with a 3-2 lead. Ryan Craig was able to minimize the damage with a goal in the period, but the Monsters would need to have a strong final period to win the game.
The third period started off right with a goal by Cody Goloubef at the 7:16 mark, as the Monsters started the period off by tying up the game. After that, however, was a four-goal flurry by Manitoba that finished off the Monsters. The Monsters would lose their fourth game in a row, as the Moose would get the 7-3 victory. Cleveland is now 3-6 and look to rebound Saturday against Manitoba.
