CLEVELAND, Ohio- It’s a beautiful thing when sports and good deeds combine for a great cause.
That’s what happened last night, as the Cleveland Monsters held their annual Chuck-A-Bear night at The Q during their game against the Iowa Wild.
The rules were quite simple: Bring a stuffed bear or animal and when the Monsters score, send your stuffed friend flying to the ice. This night is about giving, as it is a part of a Toy Drive.
So it’s safe to say when Daniel Zaar scored with forty-four seconds left in the first period, it became Bear-A-Mania at the Q.
Below are some photos and a video from when the bears took flight.

Monsters Head Coach John Madden talked about the scene after the Zaar goal.
“It was good. Obviously anytime stuff like that happens it’s great. All the guys were excited for it and were looking forward to it. (They) wanted to see who would score the first goal and get the bears on the ice. Zaarsy (Zaar) put it home and so he was the guy.”
Though the Monsters would ultimately fall to Iowa in a shootout 2-1, the scene at The Q after Zaar’s goal will be the moment that stands out the most about last night.
