Monsters Can’t Complete Comeback, Fall To Rampage 4-3

The Cleveland Monsters continued their road trek to San Antonio for the first of two games against the Rampage.

The Monsters fell into an early hole, as the Rampage struck for two goals over the course of the first frame. Gabriel Bourque scored the first goal of the game, netting the puck at the 7:22 mark of the period. Rocco Grimaldi would execute a power play and extend the lead to two at the 15:27 mark of the frame. The Monsters would look to battle back after being held in check for twenty minutes.

Marc-Andre Bergeron would try to swing momentum back in Cleveland’s way with a marker at the 13:31 mark, but Alex Belzile would match the Bergeron goal with a 16:37 marker. Joe Pendenza would send the Monsters into the break feeling confident, scoring at the 19:51 mark. Though trailing 3-2, the Monsters had caught fire.

Unfortunately, Colin Smith would put the game out of reach with a marker at the 16:08 mark. Alex Petan would net the puck at the 18:08 mark, but Cleveland would fall 4-3 in an attempted comeback. One of the main factors in the loss would be the power play miscues, as the Monsters only capitalized on one of the six man-advantages they had.

The Monsters fall to 27-25-3-4 and must brush this one off to continue their push for the playoffs.
