Monsters Win Both Road Games To Take 2-0 Lead; Defeat Hershey 5-3

Things keep looking better and better for the Lake Erie Monsters, who looked to take a 2-0 series lead over the Hershey Bears in the Calder Cup Finals on Friday at the Giant Center in Hershey, PA.

Things got off to a great start for the Monsters, who struck first with a goal from Zach Werenski, who scored off assists from Ryan Craig and TJ Tynan off of a power play goal at the 3:05 mark of the first period.

Oliver Bjorkstrand scored the second goal of the night for Lake Erie off of a Markus Hannikainen assist at the 4:29 mark of the second period. Zach Sill got the Bears on the board at the 8:48 mark of the second frame off of a power play. Lukas Sedlak made up for the Hershey goal with a goal of his own at the 13:51 mark of the second frame.

Oliver Bjorkstrand started the third period scoring at the 2:04 mark during the power play, the second goal for him in the game. Tyler Lewington started the comeback for Hershey, scoring at the 9:57 mark of the period. Liam O’Brien kept the Hershey comeback alive with a goal at the 11:51 mark of the period. Daniel Zaar put an end to the comeback after an empty-net goal at the 18:59 mark of the period, capping off a 5-3 victory.

Two more wins Cleveland. Battle Together.
