Miyan Williams Ties Ohio State Record with Five Rushing Touchdowns; Buckeyes Run over Rutgers

Ohio State

Columbus-

Have a day, Miyan Williams! The Ohio State running back cemented himself into Buckeyes’ history with a five-touchdown performance. Leading to a 49-10 blowout win over Rutgers. The third year back tied Pete Johnson and Keith Byars for the most single game rushing touchdowns. Byars last accomplished this feat back in 1984.

Rutgers struck first to open the game with a 14-yard touchdown pass from QB Evan Simon to Sean Ryan on their second drive of the day. This came after a punt return fumble from Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka. Unfortunately for the Scarlet Knights, this would be their only touchdown of the afternoon. The Buckeyes would go on the score 28 straight unanswered points. Ohio State held a 28-7 lead at halftime. Williams secured three of those touchdowns.

Rutgers would score their final points of the game with a 35-yard field goal from Jude McAtamney early in the 3rd quarter. From there, it was all Buckeyes. A pair of touchdown passes from C.J. Stroud to Julian Fleming and Marvin Harrison Jr, on top of two more touchdowns from Miyan Williams, put this one out of reach. Thus propelling the Buckeyes to their fifth straight win to remain undefeated on the season.

Since 2014, the Buckeyes have played Rutgers a total of nine times and have beaten them each time, scoring no less than 49 points in each contest with an average margin of victory of 42.2 points per game
