Mike Napoli Makes His Return Tonight to Progressive Field with the Rangers; Will it Be a Party?

CLEVELAND – He was here for just one year, but tonight a memorable face makes his return to Progressive Field, but likely there won’t be a party in his honor.

That player of course is now Rangers slugger Mike Napoli, who played one memorable season with the Tribe in which he hit 34 homers to go along with 101 runs batted in and a .239 batting average.

“What he did for, not just the team, but the organization, the people,” Indians manager Terry Francona said, “I know he’s going to get his ring. I’m looking forward to that a lot.”

Napoli, who left via free agency to Texas after the Indians inked Edwin Encarnacion to a mega deal, will be on the field to get his AL Championship Ring at 6:50pm, about 20 minutes prior to first pitch between the Rangers and Indians.

This season in Texas Napoli is hitting just .192, but is still hitting homers, as he has 14 on the season to go along with 32 RBI.

Maybe even more memorable than his play was the famous ‘Party at Napoli’s’ campaign started by Hipster Tito on Twitter, a campaign that eventually garnered thousands to Cleveland Clinic Children’s charity.

While the t-shirts may be out of style today with Napoli now in Texas, don’t be surprised to see some pop up tonight at Progressive Field.
