Right-handed pitcher Mike Clevinger will start Sunday for the Cleveland Indians against the Kansas City Royals.
Indians manager Terry Francona announced the news Friday afternoon, which was the expected move after Corey Kluber was put on the 10-Day Disabled List.
Clevinger, 26, owns a 1.50 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched for Triple-A Columbus this season.
In 2016, he went 3-3 with a 5.26 ERA at the MLB level, making 10 starts and seven relief appearances with the Indians.
Clevinger will more than likely be sent back down when Kluber is activated, but if he pitches well, it could help his chances of having a spot in the rotation in the near future.
