“MeVsNuggets” Challenge Conquered By Joe Quinn, Making It Two Ohio Victories Over Nuggets On Wednesday

As the Cleveland Cavaliers walked off with a 113-108 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, they weren’t the only Ohioans celebrating. Joe Quinn, who fell just ten Nuggets short of his goal last time, brought home the win in his second crack at the “MeVsNuggets” Challenge.

After eating 116 nuggets on Saturday and falling short, Quinn was able to eat less and still pick up the win. All it took was 111.5 nuggets to be consumed.

“Thank god I didn’t do that for nothing,” said a victorious Quinn. “Again.”

After learning some useful tricks such as not drinking as much water and avoiding dipping sauce until later on in the contest, Quinn found himself at a count of 80 by halftime. After only drinking a twenty-ounce bottle of water, he was even more dependent on the Cavaliers defense in the second half.

And for a guy who accomplished something that nobody had since the challenge was created by the Twitter handle @WayneEmbrysKids, he’s not even a fast-food guy.

“I’m not huge on fast food. If I had to pick a nugget it would of been Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Nuggets, but I can’t find ‘em anymore,” Quinn mentioned before the game started up. “Went McDonald’s for two reasons, friend runs one and Hot Mustard is the go to sauce.”

Add the fact that he would’ve been in bed if not coming so close the other night due to his job obligations in the morning at The Place and it was a true battle for the ages.

After the game, we asked Joe how he felt about the Cavs’ chances heading down the stretch, one winner to another.

“I think the Cavs can get to the Finals with a team effort but LeBron can not do it alone. I think we have the talent to cause matchup issues until we get to the Finals. Once in the Finals I hope they battle and the new additions can pester the West enough to keep the games close so we can finish them.”

Quinn also mentioned he doesn’t see the Warriors falling before the meeting in June with a Cleveland but wouldn’t mind seeing Oklahoma City opposite the Cavs in The Finals.

So 111.5 nuggets later and without a single bathroom break, Quinn had achieved internet fame that will never be forgotten. He was one of two people to achieve the feat last night but his was even more special due to the fact he chowed down on 116 just four days later, making his total for the “MeVsNuggets” challenge series stand at 227.5 nuggets. After all that, he’s just glad people were able to relax and have fun watching sports.

“I hope people had some fun with it. With all the things going on in the world, we can’t forget to laugh and make fun of ourselves. It’s a silly, stupid thing that doesn’t mean anything but for a few days most people weren’t at each other’s throats over their beliefs/opinions. It’s a made up game that you either attempted or joked about, and at the end we all had a good laugh.

It’s better than what most days have been lately. It’s why I use Twitter. To laugh with people that have a sense of humor like me.”

Well put, Joe. Mark that up as a Wednesday sweep for Ohio, on and off the court.
