Shane Bieber was the victim of the long ball on Monday night, suffering his first pro loss on the road as the Indians dropped to 21-19 with a 5-2 setback to the White Sox.
The Tribe pitcher gave up no less than four solo homers in the setback, and while the Indians were off balance all night by Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez, Bieber seemed to be his own worst enemy.
Bieber allowed five runs and seven hits in 6.1 innings. The right-hander was 9-0 with a 3.22 ERA in 15 appearances on the road coming into the day.
“I just need to be better with two outs,” he said.
Today is the finale of the short two-game set, and the Indians will have a new look to their lineup and outfield as the team today called up outfielder Oscar Mercado, who will make his Major League debut hitting fifth and playing left.
The team is also moving Jose Ramirez down in the lineup as well. Here’s the Indians starting nine as Carlos Carrasco will take the bump.
