Chicago Bears fans have wondered when their franchise quarterback would have his breakout performance. They have their answer.
The Mentor, Ohio native Mitchell Trubisky stole the early headlines for week four of the NFL season with his six-touchdown performance in the Bears 48-10 blowout victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Soldier Field.
The former Mr. Football in Ohio tossed five of his six touchdowns in the first half. Tight end Trey Burton caught the first touchdown, a 39-yard hook up on Chicago’s opening drive. Allen Robinson hauled in the second touchdown from 14-yards out late in the first quarter.
Running back Tarik Cohen and wide receivers Joshua Bellamy and Taylor Gabriel caught the other four touchdown passes from Trubisky. Gabriel and Trubisky hooked up twice for scores. Each touchdown covered three yards.
Trubisky finished the day 19 of 26 for 354-yards and the six touchdown passes. Trubisky also added three carries for 53-yards.
The second-year quarterback is benefiting in the new offense run by head coach Matt Nagy.
