Mentor native and right handed pitcher Kade McClure was selected 177th overall in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft out of Louisville.
The 6-foot-7 junior has worked 97 innings this season, going 8-3 with a 3.43 ERA, striking out 102 batters.
He went 12-0 as a sophomore with an ERA of 2.43 and 77 strikeouts in 78 innings.
Louisville is currently one of eight teams headed to Omaha for the NCAA College World Series and McClure obviously has some business to take care of before starting his professional career.
Louisville opens up CWS play against Texas A&M on Sunday, June 18 at 2 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN.
McClure expects to pitch in the second game of the double elimination tournament on June 20. That game will also be televised on ESPN and depending on the outcome of the first round, the game will start at either 2 pm or 7 pm, when the Cardinals will play either Florida or Texas Christian.
