Cleveland-
The Westlake softball player, Megan Forshey, met with Guardians’ right-fielder Oscar Gonzalez prior to Game 3 of the ALDS series. The sixteen-year-old had something special to return to Gonzalez. She had caught the rookie’s walk-off home run ball in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. The long ball came in the 15th inning of the game that sent the Guardians to the ALDS series, giving them the win over Tampa Bay.
Forshey has been attending games with her dad for the last nine years. They have sat in the same seats and she usually attends between 10-20 games a season. During that time she hasn’t had a ball hit close to her. However, she was more than ready for the moment when it arose.
Once she got over the disbelief that it was headed her way, Forshey said:
“I was in shock. I’m like ‘I got it’ [and] I put my hand to my dad, he backed away and then I caught it.”
Her Westlake softball team caught the moment on tv and celebrated on Twitter:
Incase anyone is wondering who made that awesome catch for the game winner (AND pushed her Dad out of the way 😂) ….. our very own, Megan Forshey!!! Nice catch, kiddo!! Can’t wait to see more catches like this during the upcoming season! ⚾️❤️💙🤍 pic.twitter.com/0qnsG2WJ1Z

The youngster had kept the ball in a case. She only wanted some signed memorabilia from the team. Forshey got her wish and a chance to meet with several players and staff prior to Saturday’s game. She was grinning from ear to ear as she walked the warning track of Progressive Field.
Cleveland’s pitcher Shane Bieber stopped at chatted with Forshey pregame.
The young Guardians fan will remember this season for that catch and her day with the players. Forshey has become somewhat of a local celebrity since the magical catch. She’s spoken to many tv outlets and was all smiles when we saw her today.
One thing she has in common with all Guardians’ fans is she hoping they beat the Yankees to advance to the American League Championship Series.
