Earlier this morning, the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as the rest of the NFL world, was caught off-guard when Head Coach Marvin Lewis decided to opt out of his contract with Cincinnati. Lewis had been the coach of the Bengals for the last fifteen seasons and despite putting together an overall winning record over his decade-and-a-half tenure, he failed to win a single playoff game.
After 15 seasons in Cincinnati, Marvin Lewis is planning to leave the Bengals after this season to pursue opportunities elsewhere, league sources tell ESPN.

With this new development coming out today, the gears have once again begun to turn on the possibility of Cleveland Browns Head Coach Hue Jackson leaving the team to take over the lead role of his former team. If you recall, Jackson was the offensive coordinator for Cincinnati for the 2014 and 2015 seasons before agreeing to take the Cleveland job. Now with that opening there, Jackson might find it more appealing to go back to the offense that he had so much success with rather than trying to build something with the Browns.
One thing’s for certain. The Cincinnati gig is not anywhere remotely close to the pressure the Browns situation provides Hue with. He can settle in and work comfortably, knowing he isn’t on a specific timetable to find a lot of success.
Jackson could be fired by new Cleveland general manager John Dorsey and walk to that job or leave on his own, finding his ideal destination regardless of how it happens. So no matter what happens at the conclusion of this year, Jackson will more than likely be in the AFC North come 2018.
