Former Browns first round pick quarterback Johnny Manziel was dressed in a nice suit as he made his first court appearance today in Dallas after being indicted on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.
The Judge in the case, Roberto Cañas, told the QB that he was to have no contact with former girlfriend Colleen Crowley whether it’s in person, via phone or through social networking.
Cañas said to Manzile that adhering to those conditions is “on you.” The judge asked Johnny Football if he owns a gun or lives where there are guns, which would be a violation of his bond terms.
“No, your honor,” Manziel responded.
No plea was given during the short five-minute hearing. The next court date for Johnny is set for June 24th. He will not be at that hearing as Attorney Bob Hinton will deal with the judge that day.
Hinton said that Manziel will return to Los Angeles, as he was not ordered by a judge to stay in Dallas County or Texas.
Another Manziel attorney, Jim Darnell, issued the following statement:
“Johnny has, over the last 24 hours, fulfilled all the current requirement of the court. He looks forward to defending himself against the misdemeanor allegation and foucing on the next phases of his life, both personally and professionally.”
