Mahal Wins the Strap, Nakamura’s Debut – Five Takeaways from Sunday’s WWE Backlash

3. Great Match with a Cheap Finish

There wasn’t much doubt we’d see a lot more between Kevin Owens and A.J. Styles, but to me it was disappointing to see a solid long back and forth match end with a cheap count-out of Styles allowing Owens to get the win and keep the belt.

Both guys worked hard and they have a great chemistry, and again we will see a lot more between them, but they could have booked the ending of this one a lot differently, even selling more of A.J.’s injury and him simply not having enough to get back in the ring, therefore Owens getting the win.

Instead, they did the whole ‘foot caught in the table’ finish, an odd end for what was the most well worked match on the card.

This is only the beginning between these two.
