MEN’S GOLF
• Cleveland State captured its third straight Horizon League title in Florida from April 22-24, earning the League’s automatic bid to the NCAA regionals.
• CSU was in second place after a first round 291, but a one-under-par 287 in the second round moved the Vikings into first place and a final round 300 gave the Vikings their third consecutive title.
• Joey Krecic finished as the runner-up with three straight rounds of 71, while Patrick Luth was third with rounds of 74-71-70. The duo were both named to the all-tournament team.
• With the League title, CSU advances to the NCAA regionals which will take place from May 16-18 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Tucson, Ariz., Kohler, Wis., Albuquerque, N.M., Stillwater, Okla., and Nashville, Tenn.
• The selection show is scheduled for Thursday (May 5) at 9:30 am on the Golf Channel.
SOFTBALL
• The Vikings (18-28, 11-10 HL) close the regular season with a three-game series against Green Bay at Viking Field this weekend.
• CSU hosts the Phoenix at 3:00 pm on Friday (May 6) with a doubleheader on Saturday (May 7) at 12:00 pm.
• The Vikings won five of six games last week, taking two of three contests and Oakland and sweeping three games at Detroit. CSU has won 10 of its last 13 overall.
• Susan Knight went 4-0 with a 1.40 ERA in the circle last week, firing three complete games and winning one game in relief. She struck out 24 in 25 innings.
MEN’S TENNIS
• Cleveland State’s 2015-16 season came to end last weekend, as the Vikings fell in the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament. The Vikings finished the spring season with a 14-12 record, marking the program’s 11th straight winning season.
• CSU advanced to the semifinals with a 4-0 win over Youngstown State in the first round.
• Senior Joe VanMeter finished his Cleveland State career ranked sixth on the CSU singles wins list with 73 victories. VanMeter became one of seven Vikings to notch 70 career singles wins earlier this season, and the first since the 2013-14 season.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
• The Vikings wrapped up the 2015-16 season last weekend, falling in the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament. Cleveland State finished the spring season with a 14-9 dual match record.
• CSU captured its second Horizon League regular season title this year, cruising through the Horizon League schedule with an 8-1 record. The eight wins marked a program record for league victories in a single season.
• Three Vikings eclipsed the 50-win mark this season, as Mathilde Orange, Victoria Bensimon, and Princess Gbadamosi all joined the elite 50-win club.
VIKING OF THE WEEK
Susan Knight, Softball, Senior, Milan, Ohio
Knight went 4-0 with a 1.40 ERA in four apperances (three starts) last week. She had three complete game victories and earned a win in relief, working the final four innings of a 10 inning game at Oakland. Knight gave up eight runs (five earned) over 25 innings last week and fanned 24.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Brian Etzkin: The women’s tennis coach was named the Horizon League Women’s Coach of the Year after leading CSU to the regular season title.
Erica McNew: The senior softball player is hitting .500 this year with 35 runs, nine doubles, 13 homers, 47 RBI and a .914 slugging percentage.
Isabella Spindler: The women’s tennis freshman was named to the All-Horizon League first team and was the League’s Freshman of the Year.
