2. Valentine’s Day
It may have been a St. Patty’s Day showdown, but in Chicago, Denzel Valentine made it his night. He put up a career-best 34 points including eight 3-pointers, seven rebounds and six assists.
After recording a team-high 11 points in the first half, Valentine recorded 16 points, as many as all of the Cavs combined, in the third quarter. His four 3-pointers in the frame helped to pull the Bulls to within four heading into the final 12 minutes. As already stated, a Valentine 3-pointer tied the game with just over four minutes remaining to give Chicago a shot.
In the fourth quarter, however, Valentine slowed down as the Cavs held him to just seven points. Still, without his output, the Wine & Gold would have had a much easier time with this Bulls squad who was without both Lauri Markkanen and Zach LaVine.
