Last-Second Heroics Lift Westlake Demons Past Olmsted Falls 34-31

The Westlake Demons traveled to Olmsted Falls to take on the Bulldogs for a Week 2 Southwestern Conference showdown on Friday night.

Westlake jumped out to a 20-3 lead, but the Bulldogs, led by senior running back Spencer Linville, stormed back to take a 24-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

It was a back and forth final period of play and Olmsted Falls appeared to seal the victory with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Brett Hutkay to Andrew Turski with 37 seconds remaining.

Westlake pulled off an amazing 30-second drive, started by a kick return from Terrence Rose, which gave the Demons the ball at the 48-yard line.

Senior quarterback Trey Bialowas led the Demons down the field and delivered a 20-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Bielozer to give Westlake a 34-31 lead with two seconds left, which proved to be the game-winning score.

Bialowas ran for two touchdowns and completed three passing touchdowns, while Linville rushed for 218 yards, scoring two touchdowns on 34 carries in the loss.

Westlake improves to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the SWC.

The Demons host the Avon Lake Shoremen in Week 3 for another conference match, while Olmsted Falls travels to Lakewood.
