Eastlake – The Captains beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 5-4 in 10 innings as Jorge Burgos ended the game with his second homer this time to end the game. The Captains ended the River Bandits 12 game win streak while ending their own 4 game slide.
The Captains started lefty Rodney Boone who pitched a season high 6 innings and had 9 strike outs. Boone allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs and gave up 2 walks, pitching a season high 94 pitches. Boone gave up solo homers in the second and third innings. Boone didn’t get the win, but he pitched well enough to.
The game was tied 2-2 in the third inning with an error which allowed Dayan Frias to score from second, and Jake Fox hitting a sac fly allowing Micael Ramirez to score. Yordys Valdez hit an RBI double in the 5th inning for the Captains to take their first lead of the night. In the 6th, Burgos hit his first homer to push the Captains lead to 4-2.
In the 8th inning, Captains reliver Alaska Abney gave up 2 runs to tie the game as the River Bandits started to mount their comeback. But the defense for the Captains tightened up, as they got the double play needed to end the inning.
The 9th inning reliever Franco Aleman, who ended up with the win, as he pitched 2 scoreless throwing 2 strikeouts, and allowing a walk, but not allowing any hits. And then in the 10th, with 2 outs, Burgos hit the second homer to walk off.

This marks the 13th come from behind victory and pulled their overall record to 23-23. The Captains will look to add to their winning ways as they take on the River Bandits for game 2 of the 6-game series Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 pm here at Classic Park.
