Eastlake – The Lake County Captains completed an 11 game homestand on Sunday afternoon. The homestand saw the Captains win four out of five games against the South Bend Cubs.
In addition, the Captains won four out of six games against the Peoria Chiefs. The Chiefs won Sunday afternoon’s game 12-2.
On Sunday, the Captains were led by Guardians 12th ranked top prospect Jake Fox who went 2-5.
Fox led off Sunday’s game with a home run in the bottom of the first to give the Captains a 1-0 lead.
The Captains scored their second run on Sunday when Will Bartlett drove in a run when he hit a double with one out in the bottom of the seventh.
During the homestand, the Captains were led offensively by Guardians 4th ranked top prospect Chase DeLauter who hit .424 (14-33).
After going 8-3 during the homestand, the Captains are now 23-23 in the second half and 4.5 games out of first place.
The Captains next travel to Beloit, Wisconsin to take on the Beloit Sky Carps in a six games series that goes until Sunday, August 27th.
From August 29th until September 3rd the Captains will play the first place Cedar Rapids Kernels in a six game series in Iowa.
The Captains return home to Classic Park for their final series of the season on Tuesday, September 5th when they begin a final six game homestand against the Lansing Lugnuts.
