2. The Pen Does the Rest
With Corey Kluber at 112 pitches, the Indians went to the pen in the 8th, which recent history points to being a bad thing, but this time around it was a welcome sight.
First up was Neil Ramirez, who entered the game with a 6.00 ERA in six innings pitched, but he needed just nine pitches to get out of the frame 1-2-3 and keep the Indians up 3-1.
Enter Cody Allen in the 9th, and while Brewers slugger Travis Shaw started the inning with a homer off the foul pole to make it 3-2, it didn’t seem to rattle Allen, who rebounded for three straight outs.
The save for Allen was his 10th of the year, and it was a good bounce back from his outing on Sunday in Minnesota in which he allowed a homer in the 9th to lose the game that at the time was tied at five.
