Peter King today in his latest ‘Monday Morning Quarterback’ has a tidbit on yet another situation with the Browns that doesn’t look good for owner Jimmy Haslam and the people in charge.
Here’s the story from today’s column, which can be read in full HERE
In their closing meeting with team brass, the outgoing Cleveland staff was told the team would not foot the bill for them to network and try to get jobs at the Senior Bowl. And the coaches were told they would not be allowed to purchase their two Super Bowl tickets, a perk of being an NFL player or coach, which they were under the impression they’d be allowed to do.
So when those two bits of information were dropped on the coaches, most of whom have one more year left on their contracts, they were not pleased. The Browns have many issues as they look for a new coach and general manager while building an organizational structure different from that of any other team.
Bottom line is that if the Browns want to be able to hand-pick a coach, they had better do it quickly. Many felt Adam Gase would be the guy, but he was already hired as the new coach in Miami.
The Browns did chat with Bengals coordinator Hue Jackson, and now that the Bengals are done in the postseason, he could be an option if the team wants him.
Let’s hope he doesn’t want Super Bowl tickets.
