Cavaliers forward Kevin Love will not play Wednesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to back spasms.
The team announced the news Monday night via press release:
Kevin Love (lower back spasms) underwent additional testing and evaluation at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health today, the results of which revealed no structural damage. Love will be Out for Wednesday’s home game vs. the Timberwolves, while continuing to receive treatment with a protocol of rest and rehabilitation. His return to play status will be updated as appropriate.
Love exited Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to back spasms.
His back had been bothering him before the game started and did not get any better by halftime.
Love also left a game on Jan. 16 against the Golden State Warriors due to back soreness and went on to miss the next game, Jan. 19 against the Phoenix Suns.
Love stayed in Cleveland for this MRI, which thankfully revealed “no structural damage,” while the Cavs played the Dallas Mavericks.
Wednesday will be the fifth game in the last two weeks that Love’s back issues will keep him off the court.
