The last time a player put together a performance like Charlotte Hornets center Dwight Howard did on Wednesday night was 2010. Howard turned back the clock not only for the record books but in a throwback to his dominant play, going for 32 points and 30 rebounds in only 34 minutes. Oddly enough, the feat has a Cleveland tie to it.
If you’re wondering who the last player was to accomplish the 30/30 game, it was Kevin Love.
Of course at that time, Love was still a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. But the night was still a wild one and brings even more respect to the UCLA product’s game.
Love brought down a whopping fifteen rebounds in the third quarter on that night to help his total of 31 points and 31 rebounds. It was the first 30/30 game since 1982, when Moses Malone put up the impressive stat line for the Houston Rockets. The Timberwolves went on to win that game against the New York Knicks, 112-103.
To completely wind back the clock, the leading scorer for Minnesota that night was Michael Beasley with 35 points. Yes, that Michael Beasley.
Love took to Twitter to congratulate Howard on the achievement as the new titleholder:
Congrats to @DwightHoward the new Mr. 30/30. Hell of a night!!!

The Hornets are currently 31-41 and are six games out of the playoffs. So while this was remarkable game for Howard, Charlotte won’t be a threat come April. Also, in typical Dwight Howard fashion, the big man has been suspended for tonight’s game after picking up his sixteenth technical foul last night.
