The Kenston Bombers continued their solid 2018-19 season on Thursday, as they took home the championship of the Solon Holiday Tournament with a 7-3 victory over Olmsted Falls.
The Bombers have been unstoppable thus far this season, as they are still unbeaten (5-0-0) in league play in the Red Division of the GCHSHL.
On this day they went up against a very good Olmsted Falls group, but were able to build a 2-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of play, and never let up in getting the win and the title.
Val Carriero led the way for the Bombers with a hat trick in the victory. Forward Bennett Wenger added two goals for Kentson to help out.
The Bombers also got goals in the win from Paxton Phillips as well as Jay Ohlsen.
Olmsted Falls found themselves trailing 4-0 when they got on the board with 5:37 left in the second period on a goal from Jacob Kerkay.
Zach Henley closed it to a 4-2 game, and then Dom Conte scored to make it a one-goal game late in the second period.
The Bombers got a key goal at the end of the period to push the lead back to a two-goal advantage at 5-3.
The third period saw the Bombers hold off the Bulldogs on defense, and Kenston scored a pair of goals to push the margin out to the final of 7-3.
Kenston’s next league game will be on January 5th at Strongsville against the Mustangs at OBM Arena.
The Bulldogs will skate in league play in North Olmsted on January 5th against Avon.
