The Cleveland Indians announced Monday that they have designated third baseman Juan Uribe for assignment.
The news came minutes after the Tribe traded for Brandon Guyer from the Tampa Bay Rays.
As most expected, the addition of Guyer means Jose Ramirez will be playing third base and Guyer can play a corner outfield spot.
Uribe, 37, hit .206 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 2016 with Cleveland.
The Indians Twitter account posted the following to announce the news:

Uribe was praised for his veteran leadership and clubhouse presence, particularly for the relationship he had with Ramirez.
