Cleveland- Jose Ramirez launched a 432-foot 2-run homer to right field in the 1st inning to put the Guards on top early. He followed up with a solo shot to center in the 4th inning, This marking his second multi-homer game of the season and 22nd of his career. Ramirez is tied for 4th with Manny Ramirez in multi-home run games in Cleveland history.
The Guardians topped the Royals 8-3 winning the 3-game series. Gavin Williams was on the hill for Cleveland. While he did not factor into the decision, he threw 4.0-shutout innings, allowing 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. He was able to worked through a bases loaded jam in the 1st finishing the inning with 31 pitches.
Nick Sandlin was the winning pitcher of record improving to 5-3 on the season.
Turn up the offense
Steven Kwan continued his solid stretch to start the second half with an RBI-single in the 2nd. Gabriel Arias was initially called out at the plate but the call was overturned following a review.
Kwan is hitting .333 to start the second half with 2 home runs and 9 RBI. His 17 hits since the break rank T3rd in MLB with three other players at the conclusion of today’s contest. Showing consistency he’s hit safely in 9 of 12 games since the break.
David Fry following Ramirez lead sent a 2-run home run to left field in the 4th inning. Thus marking his second home run of the homestand. Throughout the last eight games, he’s hitting at a .308 clip (8-for-26) with 3 home runs, 7 RBI.
The Guardians won their third consecutive series for the first time this season with Wednesday’s victory. Also finishing their 6-game homestand 4-2. Cleveland now sits two games back from Minnesota for first place in the AL Central.
