The Columbus Blue Jackets took on the Colorado Avalanche last night in a rematch of a game that took place a few weeks ago. The Jackets were coming off of the best November in franchise history and they were looking to make December a great month also.
Brandon Saad struck first for the Blue Jackets, scoring at the 4:56 mark of the period. Nick Foligno was able to make it 2-0 Columbus when he scored at the 16:15 mark of the period. Columbus would go into intermission with a lot of momentum.
In the second period, Colorado was able to even it up. Nick Foligno was called for roughing and fighting, so both he and Sam Gagner spent time in the sin bin. Blake Comeau would score off of the power play opportunity at the 10:38 mark of the period to make it 2-1. Samuel Henley would score his first goal of the season at the 14:25 mark of the period to tie the game at two.
The eventual game-winning goal was scored by Boone Jenner at the 8:57 mark of the third period. Jenner would score his third goal of the season off of a Cam Atkinson assist. This time, the goal would not have to be reviewed and overturned like the previous meeting in Columbus between these two teams. The goal would stand and the Blue Jackets would win the game by a score of 3-2.
The Blue Jackets are now 13-5-4 on the season.
