The Bedford Bearcats defeated the Lorain Titans 15-12 on Thursday night at Middlefield Cheese Stadium in Bedford.
Lorain scored first on John Salaman’s touchdown run to take a 6-0 lead with under nine minutes left in the first quarter.
Bedford then followed with a five-yard touchdown run by Jay Jay (JJ) Hudson with 1:06 left in the first quarter to take a 7-6 lead.
After a scoreless second quarter, Lorain took a 12-7 lead midway through the third quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by Ocir Kimble.
After a long sustained offensive drive, Bedford scored the go ahead touchdown with 4:39 left in the game on a JJ Hudson nine-yard touchdown run to give the Bearcats a 15-12 lead.
Lorain would get the ball back late in the fourth quarter as they drove the ball to the Bearcats 17 yard line. However, the Bearcats defense made a crucial fourth down stop on a fourth and four with under three minutes left to go in the game.
In the victory, Bedford was led by running backs JJ Hudson and Myke Dean who combined for 186 yards on the ground.
Lorain, now 7-2, completes the regular season on Friday against Maple Heights.
Bedford will complete the regular season Thursday when they face Warrensville Heights.
Maple Heights Defeats Garfield Heights
In another Lake Erie League matchup on Thursday night, Maple Heights defeated Garfield Heights 28-22.
With the victory, Head Coach Shaq Washington’s Maple Heights Mustangs now move to 5-4 on the season.
The Mustangs will complete the regular season next Friday as they travel to Lorain to take on the Titans.
Garfield Heights will complete the regular season when they face Shaw in a week ten matchup.

D’Shawntae Jones had four touchdowns to lead Glenville to a 41-0 victory over JFK on Thursday.
Also, in the Senate League on Thursday John Marshall defeated East Tech 56-28.
Canfield won their fourth straight game as they defeated Howland 34-7 and Valley Forge defeated Normandy in the “Battle of Parma”, 40-37 at Byers Field.
Northeast Ohio High School football gets underway at 3pm on Friday with Lutheran East hosting St. Charles.
