It was a beautiful night for baseball Wednesday, as the visiting Polar Bears took down the host Panthers 6-0 in Federal League action. In the top half of the first, the Bears struck first on an RBI single by senior Alex Snyder and never looked back.
Right-hander Caden Goodwin was dominant on the mound for Jackson, going six shutout innings and striking out seven en route to picking up the win. The Bears got contributions across their lineup with Snyder going 2-3 with two stolen bases and junior Garrett Wright going 2-3 with two RBI.
It was tough sledding for the Panthers, as Goodwin held them to no more than a single on the evening. Cashe Gout led the way for the Panthers going 2-3 on the night with two singles. Gabe Essinger picked up the loss for Perry going four innings, striking out four, and giving up three runs.
The regular season is winding down and both teams kick off tournament play next week. On Tuesday, May 17th, Perry travels to take on conference rival Canton Glenoak. Jackson will play their first game on Thursday, May 19th, hosting the winner of Brush and Painesville Harvey.
