Just a day after releasing an Instagram video hyping his return to the court as a new member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Isaiah Thomas has released an article in the Players’ Tribune talking about the trade to Cleveland.
It is common for current athletes to tease articles after a big moment in their career happens. Whether it be a trade, free agency decision or milestone, players are not afraid to tell it how it is.
Thomas discussed his frustration with the move, claiming the Celtics did not get better with the trade and even send a warning to the rest of the league about the new-look Cavaliers.
Thomas spent a majority of his article thanking the city of Boston and the Celtics fans. Thomas expressed how much the city of Boston meant to him and his family, as his two sons were very much in love with their lifestyle.
Thomas explains the conversation he had with Celtics GM Danny Ainge after returning from vacation, as Ainge subtly snuck in that Thomas had been traded.
He even gets into the subject of loyalty and how it means nothing when the owner of the team you’re on is making a business move. Thomas points back to Kevin Durant’s free agency decision last off-season for reference when discussing how players are portrayed as villains when they make a business move.
It is quite an intriguing read and you should definitely read it if you have time. It speaks volumes to the kind of man Isaiah Thomas truly is. The link to the article is below.
