Inside the Lines: Who to Take and Not Take This Weekend in College and Pro Football Action

Saints Giants

NFL Lines Week 2

New Orleans vs. New York Giants
Over 53

Have fun trying to stop two of the best offenses in the NFL. Both defenses aren’t that great for either team. The Giants spent a lot of money in free agency to improve theirs but Prescott fell just short of doing enough in his first start to beat them. The Saints continued to be horrendous and let Oakland score at will. The two offenses combined to score 54 last week and now they each face a worse defense.

Seattle vs. Los Angeles
Seattle -6.5

The Rams looked totally lost and that was against the 49ers of all teams. Some thought San Francisco would be in the running for the first overall pick but that showed the Rams were much more behind. I know Wilson is dealing with an ankle injury so I don’t expect him to go crazy but the Seattle offense should have enough to not have to compete against the Rams. Los Angeles may get shut out back to back weeks.

Jacksonville vs. San Diego
Jacksonville +3

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I love the Jaguars this year. I know they are on the road but to still be underdogs to San Diego is hard for me. The Chargers blew a 21 point lead last week with three minutes left in the third quarter. Now they lose Keenan Allen, their best offensive threat for the season. Jacksonville last week just barely lost to Green Bay, my pick for the team to finish the regular season with the best record in the NFL. To me it is a no brainer to go Jacksonville. I like them straight up even.

Atlanta vs. Oakland
Over 49.5

I think everyone got a glimpse of what Oakland is capable of with the stunning win over New Orleans. Atlanta is another team that isn’t great on defense so look for another good day from the Oakland offense. Atlanta can put up points of their own and Tevin Coleman had a nice week catching the ball. If Atlanta can finish drives and convert this one could hit 60.

Indianapolis vs. Denver
Indianapolis +6

I think I underestimated how good Denver’s defense would still be after the hit the offense took and losing some pieces to their unit. However I’m still not sold on Trevor Siemian being able to be the guy every week. The Broncos face another elite QB in Andrew Luck this week. While the Colts defense is nothing to brag about, I don’t see Siemian blowing them away and now with questions about Demaryius Thomas I really don’t like Denver. Watch Luck keep this close and I’m predicting the Colts pull an upset.

Green Bay vs. Minnesota
Green Bay -2.5

Minnesota did not score an offensive touchdown against Tennessee last week. There is no way they can do that against Green Bay and still have it be a close game. The spread for this one is way too low for me. I probably would have put it around six or seven. Adrian Peterson couldn’t get going and the questions around the Vikings QBs are not good going against one of the best teams. Green Bay wins easily.

Philadelphia vs. Chicago
Over 42

Carson Wentz did not look bad in his debut although it came against the Browns. The Bears had a tough week one matchup against the Texans. I think this should be an intriguing game because the Eagles have another chance to show something on offense against the Bears defense and Chicago has a chance not facing the stifling Texans defense. I’m looking at a back and forth upper 20s game which would cover.

Last Week NCAAF: 4-3
Last Week NFL: 3-2
Overall NCAAF: 48-38
Overall NFL: 54-36
