2. Rondon Stalls the Indians Offense
The Tribe’s offense had stepped up in a big way during the teams’ win streak, but Sunday they did little at the plate, gaining 8 hits but only pushing one run across.
The only Indians run was a Francisco Lindor homer, a shot that extended his hitting streak to 10 games, but they needed just a little more against the Sox.
The top three in the Indians order (Lindor, Jackson and Ramirez) went 5-for-12, but the team again fell into the trap of leaving runners on base.
One night after leaving 14 on base in a 5-4 win, the team Sunday left eight runners on base.
White Sox pitcher Carlos Rondon came into Sunday with a 1-4 record with an ERA of 6.49, but hamstrung the Indians most of the day, keeping them in check at the plate.
He allowed one run on six hits in 6.2 innings, striking out 9 Indians.
Losing to a pitcher like Rondon is tough, but after getting the early run from Lindor the offense had their chances, just not taking advantage of them.
