3. Tomlin’s Hammy
Josh Tomlin was rolling long with not allowing a hit and striking out five White Sox batters in four innings, but when he came out in the 5th, he had issues pushing off and had to leave the game.
The official word from the Indians is a hamstring injury, and while everyone was wondering how the Indians were going to solve their 6-man rotation issues, an injury is a quick way to have it all come tumbling down.
“I think he felt it before, but it wasn’t anything getting in the way,” Terry Francona said after the game via STO. “On that groundball it looked like it grabbed him a little bit, and when he was warming up, it didn’t look good.
“Like Tomlin he’ll fight you tooth and nail to stay in a game, part of why we like him so much, but we also can’t let him hurt himself.”
It’s probably going to be 24 hours before the severity of the injury is known, but you can probably scratch Tomlin for at least his next start if not the next two.
The way Tomlin was throwing it would have been fun to see if he could have continued and maybe made Indians history, but it was not to be.
