Indians Walk-Off in 4-3 Extra Frames Win Over Red Sox; Three Takeaways

2. Plutko’s Night

Indians starter Adam Plutko had his moments of struggle, but by in large threw well against the best team in the American League.

Plutko went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks with two K’s. He threw 109 pitches in the effort, 68 for strikes, and lowered his ERA to 5.21.

It’s been awhile since Plutko has won a game, as he’s not recorded a ‘W’ since June 24th, but on this night his biggest issue was one player – Mookie Betts.

All the potential AL MVP did was slam a double to start the game and score on a wild pitch. In the 3rd he singled to right, and then in the 5th hit a solo homer.

While it wasn’t off Plutko, he then doubled to left in the 7th inning. He’s going to be a load to deal with if the Indians can get to him in the ALCS.
